Flight
Your silence is too audible
It grates upon my ears
And when I look into your eyes
I see my own worst fears
I see the times that you weren't there
So visibly absent
And when you hold me in your arms
I know that I resent
The flowers that you gave me
The necklace round my neck
The way you kiss me as you leave
A single hurried peck
Your heart beats slow and steady
Mine flutters like a bird
It's trapped within my ribcage
Its chirping never heard
So long since you have seen me
Yet I cross your path each day
This day-to-day denial
In your stony stoic way
But I want love and wonder
Someone to know my mind
A man that loves me deeply
A man that's smart and kind
He'd ask me how my day was
And take from me my bags
To him I'd be so special
Not just a wife who nags
Or maybe I'll just get a dog
And walk him every day
He'd love me unconditionally
And we would often play
A dog would keep me warm at night
And be a lovely friend
A dog is a great listener
My broken heart would mend
But maybe I can be alone
And all I need is me
Some solitude and freedom
Some real autonomy
I could enjoy my company
And do just as I like
I could take a mid-day nap
Or do a morning hike
I could read a book straight through
Or head off to the mall
I could take a bubble bath
Or watch the tree's leaves fall
Yes, that's just what I'll do
I need some time for me
And then when I am all alone
I'll simply, truly, be.
It grates upon my ears
And when I look into your eyes
I see my own worst fears

Punch Happy
Punch punched Judy in the face;
Judy punched Punch with a can full of mace.
Punch poured punch on Judy's head;
Judy poisoned juice and wished Punch dead.
Punch hit Judy judiciously;
Judy fought back with pent up glee.
Punch pulled back and hit Judy square;
Judy screamed "OUCH!" and pulled Punch's hair.
Punch strangled Judy - her eyes about to pop -
Simon came along and told them to stop!
Judy didn't listen 'cause he didn't say his name;
Haven't you ever played that game?
Punch got fooled and stopped right away;
But Simon had already entered the fray.
Judy punched Simon and Simon fought back,
Punch smartened up and gave him a whack!
Fighting and yelling and thrashing about,
Each hit would make them scream or shout.
The three of them tussled and tumbled around,
A sillier group would never be found.

Two Halves Make a Hole in the Heart
If "lonely" is a dish best shared,
Then why is it with you I'm paired?
"Euphoria" leaves a dirty taste;
No longer how this love is based.
Now it's secrets, stalking cats.
Why must you wear so many hats?
And sunglasses, and newspapers -
And on your arm, the shes and hers.
So though we're bound (and manacled),
The bond that ties us has been pulled
And stretched, and stretched, about to break -
This life of ours is our mistake.
And so I free you, from this strife:
Release you from your bitter wife.
Rescind your hasty "Oh, I do",
And give up all the things you knew,
For loneliness is hard to bear,
When someone near should truly care.
Lone, but happy, I will be,
When you are strangely far from me.
