To Sleep, Perchance to Feel Better in the Morning

And in the agony of night,
When all your happy thoughts take flight,

You want to see the better half;
How dearly you would like to laugh!

You hold yourself with fists clenched tight,
And hope for hope with all your might -

And in the quiet empty dark,
(Inside your fists nails make their mark),

You strain to hear some happiness;
You want to hear the sound of bliss.

The heavy feeling presses down,
And in dark thoughts you slowly drown...

Escaping to a deep abyss,
You think of all the things you miss,

Filled with bad, yet empty too -
You aren't quite sure what you should do.

And so you put some music on,
And as you stifle back a yawn,

You wrap yourself in blankets deep
And let yourself succumb to sleep.
